For these, i am looking at 2 things. i want to see what the gun can do without my interaction. I have a stand up bench with a led sled set up with velcro to secure the weapon with. It has the front v and the rear cup for the stock to sit. I made it stand up, as i dont want to lean down on the weapon. i also mostly adjust the gun by the base which is bolted to the top. i put my firing hand behind the grip but dont do a full wrap either way with the thumb. i squeeze with finger tip at the bottom of the trigger shoe which ever trigger style. i think the thumb position is suspect, as if you are right handed and the thumb is left of the grip, then it is the same horizontal distance from the trigger center line, then if you place the thumb to the right of the stock on some ledge/stand/protrusion. that is all there can be. However, if you go right side with your thumb, then your thumb base fat pad ends up on the right side and has to press against the right side of the stock. go look for yourself. I have an idea on this whole “you have to pinch between finger and thumb straight line” etc etc….
For the number 2 thing. i am looking at this as a military type weapon, cuz it is. Saying you have to stay behind the gun, and on the optics is bullshit. If you are out hunting, you are not staying on anything. high carry, low carry, 1 hand carry, sling, then you see the animal mount the stock and fire. If you are counting on the second shot to hit after you see the first, you’re an asshat. Even in suppressing fire, you are aiming to hit the target area every round. If shit isnt skipping and pinging around my personal space, I am not going heads down. If you are worried about home invasion, then you should be shoot, move, communicating, so once again, no staying on your optics, etc etc. Oh, bad guys are attacking my house across my back lawn? Well, very few states in America allow you to drop bi-pedals outside of your house, so either you are not in America, or The Purge has changed the rules, but either way you are mount up, squeeze, down, mount up, squeeze, down, so why would you not know your guns capabilities?
Mag feeding from a mag fed weapon is totally legit, but then you have to think thru, ok is there really chamber cook in my situation? Unless you have been in a multiple target engagement over time, i will hypothesize that your 3 to 5 rounds isnt going to affect squat. Has there been any testing that you have seen, to tell you how many rounds fired is required to heat the brass case next into the chamber thru the brass and affect the powder? We know there are cook offs, now tell me how many you personally know about, in civilian context. Tell me all about how you dump a mag per pig sounder group. Tell me how coyotes come in as a squad or multiple fire teams. Tell me how those prairie dogs are up, he sees me, I’m down, so much that you are glowing the gas tube. Yes i have seen the minigun runs on pigs from tacticals probably in Texas. Yes i have seen the guys feet free out the doors helicopter pig hunts. I have been to Texas on hunts, including pigs, and i took a HK SR9-T tactical G3 in .308 on purpose. Most I got was 3 shots on pigs, before we were looking for rollers and finishers.
For me, this is to know what my weapon is capable of, cuz i promise you, that i cannot shoot unsupported, supported, prone, bipod, etc under pressure and adrenaline of game or other, up to the level of the weapon. Just my position.
